CPL Syllabus and Pilot Exam Syllabus (India)
CPL ground subjects
A commercial pilot candidate in India normally prepares for these ground papers:
- Air Navigation: charts, navigation methods, instruments and radio aids
- Aviation Meteorology: weather theory and weather reports
- Air Regulations: rules of the air, licensing and ATC procedures
- Technical General: aircraft systems, engines and principles of flight
- Technical Specific: details of the aircraft type you train on
- RTR(A): radio telephony, the paper this site focuses on
Where RTR fits
RTR(A) overlaps with navigation aids, meteorological reports and air regulations. Learning it early makes the rest of your CPL preparation easier.
Study plan
- Finish RTR Part 1 and Part 2 first, since they are shorter.
- Move to Air Regulations and Meteorology.
- Spend the longest time on Navigation and the Technical papers.
Collect good pilot study material and test yourself often. Subjects and rules can change, so always match this list with the current official syllabus.
